The country lost one of its greatest sons on the 18th of October 2006. One of the founder members of this site, Horn Prof. W. P. Dayawansa is no longer with us. He met with an untimely death due to illeness. He is survived by his wife Samanmalle, daughters Samantha and Tammy, sons Nuwan and Seth and brother Jayantha.

He cared deeply about the people of Sri Lanka. He was always thinking of how best to serve the country. The service he has done to Sri Lankan education is multi faceted. The number of Sri Lankan students to whom he made available the opportunity, either directly or indirectly, for furthering their education would number into the hundreds. Daya is one of the past early Directors of LAcNet and they too are carrying a colomn on him.
